OKLAHOMA CITY Troy was born in Jefferson Co., Oklahoma,
November 4,
1926, and has resided in Snyder, Oklahoma, and Oklahoma City. He married
Mary
Jean McClurg in St. Louis, Missouri, in 1951, his beloved wife
of 62 years. Troy worked at OG&E
until 1953. He later attended UCO
and received a master's at OU. Troy taught at Classen High
School
from 1956 to 1965 and was a popular high school counselor at Northwest
High School until
1990. Self-taught, Troy was a skilled carpenter,
painter and furniture maker. Troy always enjoyed
tinkering with his
craftsmen tools, creating handmade toys, furniture for the home and even
a 1901
Ford replica horseless carriage the family rode in the
Oklahoma 89'r parades. His greatest joys
were his family, being a
father and grandpa, a member of May Ave. Methodist Church, feeding the
backyard birds, picking pecans, and butter pecan ice cream. The family
wants to acknowledge and thank Deaconess
Hospital and Select Care for
their excellent care of Troy during his stay. Troy is survived by wife,
Jean Milburn; his
son, Sean and wife Melissa and grandchildren,
Merrick and Emily; son, Brent and partner Truett Pool; daughter,
Sabrina; sister, Ann Barr; brother, Paul and his wife Ann; and
sister-in-law, Pearl Milburn. Visitation will be held 12-9
p.m.
Wednesday, January 15, 2014, with the family greeting friends 6-8 p.m.
at Mercer- Adams Funeral Service.
Services will be held at 2 p.m.
Thursday, January 16, 2014, in the Mercer-Adams Chapel, with interment
in Rose Hill
